Privacy policy
Velvet Ties and Bad Actor Identifier privacy policy
Effective date: July 22, 2026. This policy explains how Velvet Ties and Bad Actor Identifier collect, use, protect, and share information in the application, onboarding, vetting, and community-safety process.
What we collect
- Application details you provide, including name, age or age-range where applicable, location, contact details, photos, social handles, biography, referrals, and community preferences.
- Vetting and onboarding information, including membership review notes, verification outcomes, and safety-related metadata generated through Bad Actor Identifier.
- Technical and operational data needed to secure the platform, prevent abuse, and maintain audit logs.
- Photographs, video, audio, and statements captured at Velvet Ties in-person events (“Event Media”), including events hosted or co-hosted under the “Dani” brand. Event Media is captured by Velvet Ties or by photographers and videographers acting on its behalf, and may also include Event Media you or another attendee shares with us.
How we use information
- To review Velvet Ties applications, verify identity and community fit, and decide whether to admit, reject, or escalate an application for further review.
- To operate Bad Actor Identifier as a safety and reputation system for community vetting, including linking reports or safety notations to profiles when permitted by platform policy and law.
- To communicate with you about your application, membership status, payment, support, disputes, or policy updates.
- To publish Event Media publicly — including on Instagram and other social platforms, the Velvet Ties app and website, marketing, advertising, promotional and editorial materials, press, newsletters, and pitch or investor materials — under the Event photography and likeness release in the Velvet Ties community terms. Unlike the rest of the information described here, Event Media is intended for public use, not internal review only.
How information may be shared
- With authorized Velvet Ties operators, community leaders, moderators, and service providers who need the information to review applications, run the service, or investigate safety concerns.
- With potential matches or other members only to the extent necessary for Velvet Ties services and never by publishing your full private profile by default.
- With law enforcement or legal process where required, and with affiliated safety platforms or communities where your consent or the platform terms permit safety-related sharing.
Privacy limits and safety review
- Your application is not treated as public, but profile details, photos, community affiliations, and safety notations may become visible within authorized review contexts.
- Private identifiers such as email, phone number, full address, and government ID data are not made public through the membership flow.
- Because Bad Actor Identifier is a safety platform, information you provide may be retained and reviewed for dispute resolution, abuse prevention, and community protection.
- Event Media is the one category we publish publicly by design. Deleting your account, withdrawing your application, or asking us to erase your application data does not retract Event Media already published, and the licence granted in the community terms is perpetual. You may ask us to stop using a specific piece of Event Media going forward at dg@velvetties.com; we honor such requests where reasonably practicable but cannot recall what is already published or reshared by others.
Security and retention
- We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect submitted information, but no platform can guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability.
- We retain information for operational, safety, legal, and record-keeping needs, including audit logging and dispute handling.
- We may update this policy from time to time; continued use after an update means the updated policy applies going forward.
Questions about these policies should be directed to the official Velvet Ties or Bad Actor Identifier support channel provided to you during application or onboarding.
